Cutera Prowave Laser - plain and simple

The ProWave contains 2 innovations. Firstly the ProWave emits mostly infrared light above 770 nm, wavelengths recognized as the most efficient for hair removal. The second innovation is the output spectrum that can be changed to individualise the treatment for each patient. 3 distinct programs tailor the wavelength and pulse width to give best performance and efficiency for each patient.

Why hair removal by laser? Yes for some people, it can be uncomfortable, but just a short period of time using the ProWave system can save you years of shaving, waxing, depilatory creaming, or electrolysis. Time and money well spent with a future free from unwanted hairs.

The Cutera ProWave 770TM allows you to treat areas of unwanted hair, and the laser light source kills the root thereby preventing regrowth. With ProWave a special cooled applicator allows treatment of larger and more unreachable areas such as backs.

When the laser treatment is begun, some patients may experience a mild pinching or stinging experience, and for more tender areas a topical anaesthetic may be advisable. Side effects of lasers can consist of a slightly swollen and reddened area, similar to sunburn, immediately after application which can last for up to several hours, or in rare cases, blistering may occur. You are recommended to consult with your GP for more information and any risks due to your particular medication needs.

Most other hair removal processes are temporary, requiring extended use over long periods to keep up the removal. Electrolysis (a permanent form of hair removal) currently requires a needle inserted into every individual hair follicle and regular use over maybe years to affect a permanent result.

The advantages of laser hair removal with Cutera ProWave:

  • In most cases, 3-5 treatments of every area should remove most types of body hair, depending on the individual patient, thickness of hair, colour of skin etc.
  • A one-time expense, leading to freedom from waxing, shaving etc.
  • The ability to treat yourself at home in private, have a night in, treat yourself, pamper yourself then sleep away the redness; a process taking minutes, which could take hours with electrolysis.
  • Uses infrared, which are recognized as the most versatile wavelengths for removing hair.
  • Wavelength flexibility: by controlling the current density, both the wavelength and pulse width are tailored to optimize hair removal efficiency for most skin types using a single applicator.
  • Cost efficient way to permanent hair removal.
  • Fast treatments - the average sized back can be treated by laser in around 20 minutes and both legs in about 15 minutes.
  • No anaesthesia required, increasing your comfort and decreasing set-up and clean-up time.

The disadvantages of hair removal by ProWave laser:

  • Patients may suffer some discomfort during treatment, and possibly a few hours of reddened swollen skin.
  • The hairs do not immediately disappear, and you will see what appears to be regrowth between 3-7 days, though this is just the treated hairs falling out.
  • Very rarely with lasers, blistering may occur.
  • You may have difficulty reaching some areas for treatment yourself.
  • Some patients will require more treatments than others.

So if you are embarrassed by excess and unwanted hairs, perhaps Cutera ProWave 770TM is the system for you. A simple and safe process of hair removal by laser which will take minutes to complete, and give you permanent relief from your embarrassingly unwanted hair.
