Shaving Chest Hair
Gone are the days when men would only shave their faces. These days men shave other body parts also, in particular the back and the chest areas. There are several reasons why men shave their chests. Many bodybuilders do so to enable them (and others) to see their muscle definition, for others it's just a personal choice, or perhaps it's at the request of their partner. Reducing the hair on the chest by shaving can give you a lot of comfort and it also happens to be the cheapest, albeit short term, option.
The first thing to consider while shaving chest hair is to see the length of the chest hair. If you are doing it for the first time, or the length of the hair is long, it is always advisable to use a trimmer and shorten the hair. To avoid the hair getting everywhere while trimming, you can lay out a newspaper to catch the hairs or do it while standing in the bath or the shower. Doing this makes the whole process less messy. While trimming hair in the bath can be very convenient you must be careful not to end up clogging the plug hole. Therefore, to avoid this, it is recommended that a hair catcher is used to catch as much hair as possible to minimise future blockages.
After trimming the long hair, you should first take a shower before you start shaving chest hair as this cleanses the skin. Another advantage of showering is that the hair follicles get enlarged which makes shaving easier. It is always advisable to shave in the shower so that the cut hairs can be quickly washed away. You should use a new shaving razor and, depending on the quality of the blade, you might need more than one blade. To avoid cuts and nicks it is important to keep the blade sharp or use a new blade.
After using warm water to wet the chest, you should apply a good quality shaving cream - typically the more you pay, the better the quality. The shaving cream should then be applied to the whole area that is to be shaved. It is always recommended to start doing small sections. You should not apply too much pressure and avoid using long strokes from the neck area to the pubic region. The blade should glide over the chest. The blade should be clean and should be de-clogged at regular intervals as a clogged blade will tend to drag on the skin causing nicks and cuts. The blade can be cleaned by putting it under running hot water.
You should take extreme care around the nipple areas and shave very carefully. Shave patiently and do not apply too much pressure. After shaving you should wash with cold water and pat your chest and body dry. You should ensure that you apply a lightweight moisturizer which has either an aloe vera or tea tree oil element as these have antibacterial properties which are good for the skin. The speed of hair growth will vary by person; once it is noticeable or becomes prickly, it is time to shave again. You can clear dead skin cells by scrubbing the area gently.
These simple tips will ensure you have a smooth and clean chest which your partner will deficiently love.
