Until recently, people were accustomed to the view that waxing should only be done when they had reached a certain age. Yet, things have changed. In this modern world, it is no longer so weird to hear of a teenager or even a child, usually a girl, undergoing a waxing treatment to remove the hair they do not want, or more pertinently their parents, especially mothers, do not want.
It is even possible to see girls of only 8 years old waiting their turn for a waxing treatment at a spa or a salon. So, how young is too young to wax?
Most often young female teenagers are persuaded by their mothers to go to a spa or beauty salon to get a waxing hair removal treatment. These mothers want most of all for their girls to grow up looking beautiful. Of course, there is nothing wrong with the will of mothers want their daughters to look as beautiful as can be. But to have a wax treatment, or a bikini wax, is that all really necessary in one so young?
Their daughters are still only teenagers. Why would a kid really need a waxing treatment except for vanity? Besides, how much hair could grow on a little girl? Nevertheless, despite these obvious concerns, the trend of teenage waxing hair removal is growing around the world. More and more young girls are going to beauty centres these days to have waxing treatments because of the will of their mothers.
One might also wonder why mothers are so free to make these decisions for their children. Not just a few of the these children have fathers. What role do the fathers play in this decison-making process? Are they too ignorant, impotent or ineffectual to care about the beauty of these young and little girls?
In the modern world of high fashion and ultra-competitiveness, physical beauty and sexuality are becoming ever more important and children are strongly and easily influenced by family and peers. Not so long ago, instead of taking their daughters to beauty centres for a hair wax treatment, mothers would do something else with their daughters such as cooking together, playing sport or other pursuits, talking about how the day went at school, teaching or even gossiping about various news and issues.
Since most children tend to absorb implicit and other non-verbal cues from parents and siblings, mothers and fathers should learn to appreciate not only the physical beauty, but also the personal values of their young children. Youngsters lose their innocence and grow up so quickly these days, as parents we often easily forget how fun life should for young or little children.
It is our belief that children should not be pressured or channeled into worrying about their beauty or looks. Although a certain level of care in your appearance is healthy, it doesn't extend to treatments that might expose children to side effects such as permanent skin damage or infection. Kids don't really need waxing hair removal at all.
